On Saturday, November 22, The Noon Exchange Club of Rowlett will be hosting the 22nd Annual Rowlett Holiday Parade. The theme for this year’s parade is "Star Spangled Christmas" and will benefit the men and women serving our country overseas. Participants in the parade are asked to bring a $10 or $20 prepaid phone card, which will be sent to the troops. There will be a collection box for the cards located at the judging stand and stage.
The parade will begin at 10 a.m. at the corner of Kirby and Industrial, travel south on Kirby to Main Street, turn west on Main Street through downtown to Commerce Street, turn south on Commerce Street and finish at Commerce and Delia.
The Noon Exchange Club of Rowlett, one of over 800 Exchange Clubs throughout the United States and Puerto Rico, was chartered in 1994 and is comprised of men and women from Rowlett and the surrounding area who are interested in serving and giving back to the community. The club presents an opportunity to give back and to enjoy meeting others with similar interests.
Founded in 1911, The National Exchange Club is comprised of more than 25,000 members throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. Known as America’s Service Club, Exchange Club members are working together to make our communities better places to live through programs of service in Americanism, Community Service, Youth Activities, and its national project, the Prevention of Child Abuse.
Through 150 Child Abuse Prevention centers and its local clubs, Exchange has helped over 150,000 families break the cycle of child abuse.
Exchange Club members have the opportunity to develop personal and business relationships, leadership skills and network with other members while completing service projects that benefit their community.
The Noon Exchange Club of Rowlett provides scholarships for graduating seniors at Rowlett High School who have overcome adversity in their lives and have gone on to complete their education. The club also recognizes young students at each of the elementary schools and middle schools who have demonstrated good citizenship in the classroom.
In addition to its youth programs, the Noon Exchange Club of Rowlett, with the assistance of the Rowlett Parks and Recreation Department, also sponsors the Angel League T-ball team for special needs children. This project gives children with disabilities the opportunity to participate in an organized sporting activity that might not otherwise be available.
The entry fee for the parade is $35. Each entry can consist of an automobile, truck, float or walking group. Trophies will be awarded in the following categories—Best Theme, Best Marching, Most Original, Grand Marshall and the Noon Exchange Club of Rowlett. Details and registration are available on the Club’s website at www.rowlettexchangeclub.org. All proceeds benefit the Noon Exchange Club of Rowlett Scholarship Endowment Fund.
